9 to 5

many times i hear many ppl say
they don't have time for this n that
the root cause i think is we work too long hours
9 to 5 has been around for some time
maybe during the old days it really takes a long
time to get things done
but in todays world with so much advancement
we are getting things done much faster
why are we still working 9 to 5

happy new year!

all the best to those running dnyr 2006
and a big thank you to all the organizers
volunteers, contributors, sponsors etc etc
eventhough i am not participating
i can already feel the excitement and
the amazing effort put in by these ppl

2005 has been a "fast" year
time really pass very fast when u have
a job, a wife, 2 boys and running
2005 has been a good year
got a reasonable salary increment
things with family has been better
i guess its like a ultra ultra marathon
it takes a lot of effort
our 2 boys, they are no angels
but they are the best thing that happen
and happy that i still make an effort to
stay healthy by running

looking forward to 2006
happy running and happy family

who let the dogs out

heard over the radio that something like
85% of animals brought to spca will be put to sleep every month
this made me think of something
if i am a condom maker
i will look into making condoms for animals
its a contribution to the animals and also to society
or maybe its not a condom
because dogs are at it the whole day
cannot expect the owner to be there the whole day ready with condoms
or the dog to be responsible to put it on themselves
perhaps the pill will be more practical

but the root cause is still the irresponsible owners
perhaps heavier penalties and
"heavier" rewards for reporting will do the trick
for example if the penalty is rm1,000
the reward could be rm500 and the rest to the authorities
i can already imagine reporting a few irresponsible owners
and using the money to buy a couple of good running shoes
and of cause the feeling of justice and good is done etc etc

merry christmas & happy new year

tue lunch was with pm1, pm5, pm37 & pm40
pm37 & pm40 will run their first marathon in klim 2006
pm5 provided lots of info n shared his experiences

wed 8 laps klcc
by the time i saw ow he was done for the day after completing 5 laps
each lap around 6.45mins pace
but he was kind enough to run my 1st lap with me
after that pm37 was kind enough to run 2 laps with me
1st time wearing the mizuno precision V
for only rm179 there is no complaints

the year that was

my 2nd year running
i am happy with my effort for 1st half of the year
best result was PAR with 54.14mins for 8 klcc laps (10.4km)
2nd half of the year however was a different story
i got lazy and did not find the need to improve and also race
and i found the perfect excuse
just enjoy the run, i say
my motto became its ok to go slow
but luckily my motto did not move on to no need to run
thanks to all my running friends
i am still running
their enthusiasm/efforts/drive/role model/etc etc
have kept me running
without these wonderful runners
i probably would have given up by now
merry christmas & happy new year!

long live the pirates

15 dec 2005
running at ttwangsa for 65 mins
good news is that there is "rubberized" tracks
bad news is that its width is only about 3 feet

16 & 17 no running

18 dec 2005
after the mizuno wave run
i bought the mizuno precision V instead of mizuno rider 8
its because the p5 was on 50% offer and the r8 was 30% only
after discount the p5 was only rm179 and the r8 was rm299

19 & 20 no running

bought a few dvds
- march of the penguins
recommended only if u like nature/documentaries

- 2 for the money
bought bcoz of al pacino
recommended only if u like al and some meaning of life
non action movie

- into the blue
bcoz i m a fan of jessica

- head in the clouds & north country
bcoz of charlize theron
recommended only if u are a fan

- 40 year old virgin
comedy, have some funny moments

- the island
interesting story but not exciting enough

movies with bryan

was on leave last wed & thu
decided to take bryan, my 5 year old son
for king kong on wed & narnia on thu
this is the 2nd time for him watching movies in the cinema
his 1st being zathura
actually his first was jurrasic park part 3 but he was less than 2 then
and after 30 minutes he was already cranky & we immediately left
before the audience heard our t-rex
by the way king kong is a 3 hours show
it is only after 1 hour or more that king kong appears
after the show started bryan was asking almost every 10 minutes
is that guy going to change to king kong
is king kong coming out now
where is king kong
that reminds me, bryan also likes to frequently ask "are we there yet"
i think he got it (are we there yet) from the incredibles & shrek 2
and for narnia it was "where is the lion"

mizuno wave run

its been a long time since i race
last being nb 15k and klim 21k
if i am not mistaken this is my only 10k race for 2005
i could not sleep the night before the race
around 2am i could hear the heavy rain
downed a big bottle of stout
once more relaxed and intoxicated i was fast asleep
breakfast : mixed 4 scoops of oats and a scoop of milk powder
and then a small cup of endurance
got a cab and was there around 7am
happy to see pm5 & pm20 at the start line
pm20 was not feeling well so decided to follow pm5
pm5 started off fast and after a few kms i could not keep up
throughout the race i did not check my timing
i just go along with how i felt
caught up with pm5 and found out he was not feeling well and under medication
proceeded and eventually reached the end which was by then a very muddy field
finished in 58.33 mins overall position 266
finally i completed a 10k race below 1 hour
happy to meet up with many pms and familiar faces
nice to know pm40 and pm36

8 laps dec 09
my first run after recovering from badminton
after 1 week of not running
this run made me realise how good it is to run
as much as i enjoy badminton
it didn't give me the same kind of satisfaction
also running that day was pm33 & pm37

handling pain

cramps, chaffings, side stitch, blisters etc etc
yes its very painful
its so painful sometimes i wonder why the hell i signed up
but after the race i usually say it was enjoyable/worth it/satisfying
maybe its because i know the pain is temporary
maybe its because i have some pains that are not so temporary
some pains that goes into my bones
into my heart
into my mind
into my soul
pain so deep that only running can ease
only running can soothe
only running can calm
only running can reach
only running can help
only running can make sense
only running can keep me sane

imagine

inspired by my friend ben lim
i m posting this wonderful meaningful song
also sang by eva cassidy

Imagine
Writen and sang by: John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

well done to those that ran in sg!

4 laps dec 01

our company had a badminton tournament last saturday
since i have not been playing badminton at all for 6 months
i had told my partner that this year i will not participate
my first in 12 years with the company
but as the date drew near i could not resist my love for this game
i called on anyone that was willing to partner me but not pressure me
just play and enjoy the game
as chance or luck have it, i was playing last saturday
our first opponent was my previous partner
they beat the shit out of us
we took it well and packed our bags
but the organizer said that we could play in the losers pool
losers pool? my first in my entire badminton life
we played in the losers pool and eventually got 3rd placing
in the end we were in so much pain for the next few days
i have never experience so much pain after playing badminton
my whole body was aching, even today but much less
this is more painful than my most painful 21km experience

i played badminton i think since i was slightly taller than the racquet
those days we use wooden racquets
when not in use the racquets had to be clamped to avoid it from "distorting"
i remember using a distorted racquet
it was curved like a pringles potato chip
our shuttles were used until they were almost featherless
our shoes used until the front was worn off exposing our toes
out in the open, we had to take into account of the wind
some days probably the school holidays, we played twice a day
